The short version

  • Free costs nothing and does not expire. Every new Mac gets a 7-day Pro trial, with no email or card.
  • Perchy Pro is paid once: $14.99. No subscription. Refund within 14 days, no questions asked.
  • One Pro key runs on up to two Macs. Free a seat in Settings, or under Your Macs once signed in with your purchase email. Keep the key to yourself.
  • The app confirms the key about once an hour while it runs, and keeps Pro working for a few days (up to 5) without a connection after the last good check.
  • Prices and rates come from third parties through Perchy’s price service, and can be delayed or wrong. They are not financial advice.
  • Face Unlock is a convenience, not Touch ID-grade security. It is off until you turn it on.

A summary to help you read. The sections below are the full text.

01

Who we are

#

Perchy, the app and this website, is made and sold by 4Studios LLC, a Wyoming company in the United States (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@getperchy.com.

These terms cover the Perchy app for macOS (the “App”), license keys for it, and getperchy.com, including checkout, the license page and “Your Macs” (together, the “Service”).

02

These terms

#

By downloading or using the App, buying a license or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use or buy Perchy.

You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live, or have permission from a parent or guardian. If you accept these terms for a company, you confirm that you are allowed to do so.

03

Free, the trial and Pro

#

Perchy comes in two plans. Free costs nothing and does not expire. Perchy Pro unlocks more of the App (faster prices, more coins and alerts, longer charts, the converter and the other features marked Pro on getperchy.com) and is a one-time purchase.

  • The first time the App starts on a Mac, that Mac gets a free 7-day trial of Perchy Pro. It needs no email and no payment, and there is nothing to cancel. There is one trial per Mac; reinstalling the App does not start a new one.
  • When the trial ends, or a Pro license stops being active on a Mac, the App switches to Free. It does not delete your settings or data: anything over the Free limits is kept and comes back with Pro.
  • We may change what Free and Pro include in future versions of the App.
04

Buying Perchy Pro

#

A Perchy Pro license costs $14.99 (US dollars), paid once. There is no subscription and nothing to renew. You pay the price shown at checkout, including any promotion code you use there.

Checkout is run by Link, Stripe’s checkout service, which sells Perchy Pro to you as the reseller (merchant of record). It may show the price in your local currency and adds any VAT or sales tax that applies where you live; the total at checkout is what you pay. Link sends your receipt, and your card statement shows “LINK.COM*”. We never see or store your full card number, and Link’s and Stripe’s terms and privacy policies apply to the payment itself.

Once the payment goes through, we issue a license key tied to the email address you used at checkout and show it to you on the license page right after checkout, with an “Open in Perchy” button that activates it in the App, and email it to that address. Each purchase gets its own key. If you lose it, write to support@getperchy.com from that email address and we will send it to you there.

We may change the price for future purchases. A change never affects a license you already bought. You can get a refund within 14 days of buying, no questions asked; the Refund Policy has the details.

We may offer optional paid add-ons or services, which may be subscriptions. They’re sold separately and aren’t part of a Pro license.

05

Your license

#

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run the App on your Macs, using Free at no charge. When you buy Perchy Pro, the license key lets you use Pro on up to two Macs that you own or control at the same time, for as long as you keep to these terms. Pro licenses bought on getperchy.com do not expire.

  • Each Mac that activates the key takes one of its two seats. When both are taken, free one before you activate another Mac.
  • You can free a seat yourself: choose “Deactivate this Mac” in the App’s Settings under License, or free it under “Your Macs” on the license page after signing in there with the email address you bought with. To stop abuse, the number of seats you can free there each day is limited. If you are stuck, write to us from that email address.
  • You are buying a license to use the App, not the App itself. We keep all rights in the App that these terms do not expressly give you.
06

Activation and license checks

#

To activate, press “Open in Perchy” on the license page, or paste your key in the App’s Settings under License and press Activate. The App sends the key and a one-way hash of your Mac’s hardware identifier to our license server, which confirms the key and gives that Mac a seat. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is sent.

While it runs, the App confirms the key with our server about once an hour. If the server cannot be reached, because you are offline or because of a problem on our side, Pro keeps working for a few days (up to 5) without a connection after the last successful check. After that the App runs as Free until it can reach the server again.

If you remove the key from the App or deactivate the Mac, that Mac goes back to Free.

We’ll keep the license service running for as long as we sell Pro; if we ever shut it down we’ll release an update that no longer requires it.

07

What you may not do

#

You may not:

  • share, publish, sell or give away your license key, or use one key on more than two Macs at a time;
  • bypass, disable or tamper with the license check or the trial, or help anyone else do so;
  • copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the App, except where the law gives you a right to do so that cannot be excluded;
  • rent, lend, resell or sublicense the App;
  • remove copyright or other notices from the App;
  • use the Service to break the law, or overload it, for example by sending automated requests to the license lookup or the license server.
08

When a license can be revoked

#

We may revoke a license key if the payment for it is refunded, reversed or charged back, if it was obtained by fraud, or if it is used against these terms (for example, posted publicly). A revoked key stops working the next time the App checks it, and the Macs that used it go back to Free.

If you think we revoked a key by mistake, write to us and we will look into it.

09

Market data and other services

#

Prices, charts, currency rates and other market data in the App come from third-party sources. The App gets most of them through Perchy’s price service; when that is unreachable or lacks a coin, and for tokens that trade only on decentralised exchanges, it gets them directly from third-party services. Currency rates in the converter are daily reference rates, so treat them as approximate. Any of this data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong.

Nothing in Perchy is financial, investment or trading advice. Do not rely on it to make financial decisions.

The music controls work with apps such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music through macOS. Lyrics come from a third-party lyrics service. Those apps and services have their own terms, and we do not control them.

Perchy is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Apple, Spotify, Google, YouTube or any of the services that provide its data. Their names are trademarks of their owners.

10

Face Unlock

#

Face Unlock is an optional Pro feature and stays off until you set it up. It uses a regular camera, which has no depth sensor, so it is not as secure as Touch ID or your password: someone who looks a lot like you, or a video of you, could unlock your Mac.

When you turn it on, the App stores a face template and your Mac login password in this Mac’s Keychain and types the password into the lock screen for you. Turn it on only if that trade-off suits how you use your Mac. The choice, and its consequences, are yours.

11

Updates and requirements

#

Perchy needs macOS 14 or later. On Macs without a notch it shows as a drawn notch or a Dynamic Island-style pill at the top of the screen. A few features need a camera or a newer macOS. Use Free and the Pro trial to check that it suits your Mac before you buy.

We may release updates that fix problems, change features or add new ones. To the extent the law allows, we are not obliged to provide updates, support or any particular feature, and features may change over time.

12

No warranty

#

Perchy is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.

Some places do not allow these exclusions. There, they apply only as far as the law permits, and you keep the rights the law gives you.

13

Limitation of liability

#

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, or losses from trading or other financial decisions. Our total liability for any claim about Perchy is limited to the amount you paid for your license, or nothing if you only used Free or the trial.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

14

Ending these terms

#

You can stop using Perchy at any time by deleting it from your Mac; deactivate it first in Settings under License to free its seat. If you break these terms, your license ends and you must stop using the App.

The parts of these terms that by their nature should survive (such as the warranty and liability sections) stay in force after your license ends.

15

Changes to these terms

#

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. Changes do not reach back to a purchase you already made, unless the law requires it or the change is in your favor.

16

Governing law

#

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts in Wyoming hear any dispute about them.

If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where the law allows.
