The short version
- Works on Macs with macOS 14 or later, notch or not. A few features need a camera or a newer macOS.
- Without a notch, choose a drawn notch or a floating island, per display.
- Same modules everywhere: crypto prices, music, calendar, clipboard and files.
- Free shows Perchy on one display; Pro on every display.
A summary to help you read. The sections below are the full text.
Notch or not
#On a MacBook with a notch, Perchy wraps around it. On an iMac, a Mac mini or an external display, there is no notch to wrap, so Perchy draws its own notch at the top of the screen, or floats there as an island in the style of the iPhone’s Dynamic Island. Every module comes along.
It works on Macs with macOS 14 or later, notch or not. A few features need a camera or a newer macOS.
Island mode
#The island is a pill just under the top edge of the screen. Point at it and it opens, with the same modules, banners and gestures as the notch: hover or click to open. Move away and it closes back to a pill.
Dynamic Island is Apple’s name for the iPhone feature. Perchy is not affiliated with Apple.
Closed, it shows what changes as it happens: charging, volume, brightness and AirPods connecting. Open, it has crypto prices and charts, your music, your calendar, your clipboard and a Files Tray.
External displays
#You pick the style for each display: Notch, Island or Hide. A MacBook can keep its notch while the display next to it gets an island.
Perchy Free shows on one display: the one with the notch, or else your main one. Perchy Pro shows on all of them.
What it costs
#Free doesn’t expire. Every new Mac gets 7 days of Pro first, and Pro is one payment of $14.99 for 2 Macs. See how this compares with other notch apps that support Macs without a notch on the comparison page.
